Hi Ladies,

Exfoliation is an essential part of my beauty regime and the

benefits are enormous.

Rain or shine, it’s something I do once or twice a week, not

simply when the fake tan beckons.

Why? You have to bid goodbye to those dead cells on the outer surface of the skin to stimulate the growth of new ones. And I ask you, who wants to look and feel like a reptile? A good scrub makes my skin smoother, softer and brighter; it also unclogs pores and boosts circulation which is good for minimising cellulite. Moisturisers are more easily absorbed by new skin cells, so its good news all round.

I start by brushing my skin dry before showering using a body exfoliating brush and sometimes a loofah. Don’t forget – start with soles of the feet and work up. Then I immerse myself in the bath or shower and apply the exfoliant cleanser. My favourite is the Omorovicza Gold Sugar Scrub, which smells and feels gorgeous. Gold is a magical ingredient with healing properties and the sugar cane encourages new cell growth.

Then, ladies, scrub, scrub scrub in circular motions moving up your body. Pay particular attention to those rough areas including the heels and the elbows. A regular pedicure can transform your feet from goblin to princess in no time, otherwise use a pumice stone. Lavish your elbows in a thick body cream because crepe looks better as clothing! Remember to scrub those areas fondly known as bingo-wings to help stimulate and tighten the skin.

I use a washcloth for more sensitive areas and never apply body products on my face. I adore the Själ Pearl Enzyme Exfoliating Mask, which uses pearl extracts to improve skin tone, brighten the complexion and to gently exfoliate and polish the skin.

Once the scrubbing is done, I finish off with a lukewarm to cold’ish shower, not always easy in the depths of December, but good for the skin and the soul! Now you can love yourself in your birthday suit all year round.
