Bella Freud is a local girl with a global reputation as an

innovative designer. I met her several years ago and we

became friends, having long admired her iconic designs.

I love her style, and when I slip on one of her

knitwear pieces I feel cool, stylish and chic.

Effortless style in an instant!

Bella is the daughter of artist Lucian Freud and great granddaughter of that towering figure of psychoanalysis, Sigmund Freud.  She started working for Vivienne Westwood during the 1980s, and was then instrumental in rebranding and updating a very British institution, Jaeger. In 2007 she was at the helm of the much anticipated Biba relaunch.

My fashion highlight is Bella’s collection of limited edition knitwear, which she produces each season and is hugely successful. Her superfine merino jumpers have a massive following and the ‘Ginsborg is God’ sweater has become a cult item. I love the Oh! and Dream jumpers and the Dog jumper is one of my favourites. Wherever I go, it is showered with compliments, lucky dog!

Check out the A/W 2010 collection and I promise you won’t be disappointed. Bella joined forces with her longstanding friend, muse and iconic model, Susie Bick, to design the range, which includes jumpers, mini dresses and knitted accessories. Simply gorgeous.

View the collection on her website and her new blog, ‘Dream of the Week’.
